The Office of The Attorney General’s Civil Rights Section protects civil rights by enforcing District law in cases involving a pattern or practice of unlawful discrimination. The Civil Rights Section does not represent you at this time, the information gathered will be used to determine whether our section can assist you in this matter. The DC Office of Human Rights (OHR) is the primary agency that investigates individual complaints of discrimination in the District. Similarly, there are federal government agencies that may investigate claims of discrimination. Sharing your tip with CRS does not stop the 1-year deadline for filing a complaint with OHR or deadlines associated with any other agency or court deadlines. Submitting this intake questionnaire does not constitute the filing of a discrimination charge.

To submit your concern to the Civil Rights Section, please complete the following to the best of your knowledge. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) must be completed. If you do not have an email address, you may contact the Civil Rights Section at (202) 727-3400.

You may contact the Civil Rights Section with any additional information you may have. Our team will review this matter and contact you if we have further questions. OAG represents the people of the District of Columbia, not individuals making a complaint. Submitting this form to OAG is not a substitute for bringing an individual lawsuit in court, and it does not affect any filing deadlines or other administrative prerequisites that may exist for filing a lawsuit in court or submitting a complaint to a government agency. OAG may decline to investigate or pursue concerns filed with the office.
